The Appeal has proved itself to be an effective provider of facilities for rural poor in West Africa at a pace which has suited the local culture.
The Community Centre is seen as a great opportunity for the women of Sidtenga to learn to take up responsibility for management of the Centre, and develop their role in Burkinabe society.
The people of the village have had time to learn about their responsibility for the maintenance of the facilities created. There is also emerging in the village a younger generation of more entrepreneurial people whom we believe will be able to accelerate the progress of change.
Based on our previous experience, we have every confidence that the Centre will be a success. We know that our efforts in relation to local health have been recognised by the Area Health Authority, and that we have a reputation for delivering the right kind of support. We are keen to move on to tackle our other objectives at a greater pace.
We shall keep our friends informed via our web pages in the future. You will not be deluged with information as experience also tells us that nothing good happens fast in Africa. However, we hope you will be able to help us in our continuing project to allieviate rural poverty in a small corner of Africa.
